The Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site Visitor Centre Opening Night

More About The Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site Visitor Centre

The Ebenezer Chapel in Cefn Mawr is being reopened as the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site Visitor Centre at the centre of our village and centre of the World Heritage Site. It is planned to reopen the Ebenezer Chapel in early May as such, please watch this space for more information as we progress.

Parking at the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site Visitor Centre is limited however our village centre has several parking lots that are all free of charge. These are only a short walk from the Ebenezer Chapel, the new home of the Pontcysyllte World Hertiage Site Visitor Centre.

The reason the parking is limited is that our streets still retain the original character from the days of when we had narrow gauge railways and horse drawn vehicles. This adds to the appeal of our post-industrial village centre dating back to the construction of the aqueduct.

WCBC are currently processing their planning application, P/2024/0105 to extend the Windborne Gate parking lot. This is half way between the aqueduct and Cefn Mawr Village Centre. It will give large capacity parking for the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Visitor Centre in the Ebenezer at the centre of Cefn Mawr. Both the aqueduct and the centre of our village are a mere 500 meters from this parking lot. This is why we sought planning for such back in 2012 for extending Windborne Gateway Interchage Parking, P/2012/003.

As the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Visitor Centre at the centre of the World Heritage Site corridor, it is only right that we haver a tourist information point that specialises in tourist attractions in the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site. Here you will find information on local venues and events being organised in and around our community. All local hospitality and catering businesses are welcome to register with us.
